A Loyal Cubs Fan

From the first day I was born my father held me up to the Cubs Vs. Pirates game on August 4th, 1993 and ever since then I've bled Cubbie blue. Being a Cubs fan means more to me then rings or championships. It is a tradition by many that outlast other sports teams. No matter how hard times get in the season you just can turn them off. Things get exciting and then they tend to slow back down again then get more exciting. This is the life of a Cubs fan. Even though its been over one hundred years since they have won it all they are still one of the most loved teams in the majors. From their amazing baseball field to the atmosphere on Waveland and Sheffield.

I can remember the first time I walked into Wrigley field, man was it a sight to see. From the statue of Ron Santo to the Ivy on the outfield walls and even the wonderful Harry Carey sign, everything grabs your attention and heart. Even though I haven't been around to see to many great Cubs teams play I still have seen a lot. From the sixty home runs Sammy belted to the horrible dismantle in the playoffs in 2003. No matter how hard you can try the Cub inside of you will never disappear. There is always hope and next year for us and that is what makes being a Cubs fan so much fun. This gives us fans a chance to be excited every single year even if we know they aren't going to make a pennant race or contend for the World Series.

There is even more to it. From the bashing of the so called "Cardinals Fans" to the optimizing of this being our year, there is always something to talk about. The new reign in Chicago gives us, me and you even more hope that are favorite team will bring home the hardware. Whenever that day comes I will be in tears of joy and I might just have take a vacation to celebrate the matter. Wether your a Cubs fan or not being loyal and having passion for your team is the most important thing a fan could have. Tell us your first experience at Wrigley field below!!

  1. Cool blog. Ive loved the Cubs since 1969 and Ive seen many games at Wrigley. My first Wrigley Field experience was in July 1969 when my dad took me, my brother and sister to see the Cubs play the Giants. I was looking forward to seeing Willie Mays but he didnt even play because of an injury. The field seemed so huge to me as a kid. It was so cool to see close up what I had seen on TV, the ivy, the scoreboard, the freshly cut grass. The Cubs lost that game and I think Gaylord Perry was the pitcher and I do remember Ken Henderson hitting a home run. Ive been lucky enough to see some great games at Wrigley Field, including Milt Pappas' no-hitter and Ernie Banks next to last homer, but there is something special sbout that first game.
